About the Course

Miscommunication on multilingual jobsites costs contractors time, money, and sometimes lives. This course helps General Contractors and supervisors identify where language breakdowns occur, quantify their real impact on safety and productivity, and apply proven communication strategies to reduce risk, prevent rework, and strengthen crew performance.

 

Learning Objectives:

  • Identify how language barrier impact safety, productivity and project costs.
  • Recognize common points of miscommunication on multilingual jobsites.
  • Apply tested communication strategies to reduce rework and improve clarity.

 

Learning Outcomes:

  • List at least three (3) different ways language barriers contribute to safety risk and cost overruns
  • Identify at least one communication strategy they can implement immediately with their crew
  • Practice a simple “check for understanding” method to verify message clarity.

Requirements:

  • Participants are required to have a computer equipped with a camera and microphone
  • Participation by cell phone or tablet is not permitted. If you are using a phone for the class you will be asked to reschedule.
  • Participation while driving is prohibited, if you are thought to be driving you will be removed and will not receive credit for the class.
  • Participants will be required to show a photo ID to be admitted into the virtual classroom.
  • You will be required to keep your camera on and be present on camera the entire class.
  • You cannot attend another meeting during this class. If you are off camera longer than 5 minutes during the class, your attendance will not be counted.
  • Please be sure to log on at least 30 minutes before class starts so that participant & Qualifier id’s can be confirmed.
  • Admittance to a class after it has started is not permitted.
  • If you inform us prior to the class beginning that you will not be able to attend or you are having technical issues, then you will be transferred to another class of your choosing.
  • If you are a “No Show” for the class, your registration fee will be forfeited.
