Dave Simpson, President and CEO, is delivering the most important construction industry updates in a quick, about 60-second listen.
This week's topics include:

  • Carolinas AGC received a national award from AGC of America last week for our diversity and inclusion efforts. Congratulations to everyone involved! This comes during a time when we are trying to get more people into excellent careers in the construction industry.

  • Last week, CAGC Board Officers and Dave Simpson visited Washington D.C., to meet with members of the Congressional Delegations and their staff in both Carolinas, including Senator Thom Tillis, R-NC, and Congressman Joe Wilson, R-SC. Topics discussed include:

    • Opposition to the proposed impractical Heat Standards.

    • Opposition to the cumbersome Buy America Standards.

    • Support of Immigration Reform to help with the workforce shortage.

    • Request for more Career and Technical Education (CTE) funding.

  • Many networking and education and training events are on tap in the coming weeks throughout the Carolinas, including two events in Charlotte:

    • Thursday, September 29: Young Leader Lessons with an Industry Leader.

    • Thursday, October 6: Donuts with Contractors featuring GCs from all three divisions – building, highway-heavy and utility.

  • CAGC has nominated three members to be on the South Carolina 811 Board.
