Speakers

Bernice Russell-BondBernice Russell-Bond
Bernice Russell-Bond, a cybersecurity leader with more than 25 years of experience, serves as the state chief information security officer for the N.C. Department of Information Technology.

Russell-Bond oversees North Carolina’s cybersecurity efforts with a focus on strengthening partnerships and collaboration at the state, local and federal levels. She enjoys leading teams to empower all staff in fostering an effective cybersecurity culture.

Russell-Bond has held a variety of private-sector and nonprofit leadership roles in cybersecurity operations, risk management, IT governance, incident management and auditing. Before joining NCDIT in March 2025, she was chief information security officer and vice president of information security at RTI International. She also owned and ran her own IT risk management consulting firm for nearly 20 years. Read her full bio on the NCDIT website.

Kevin HanKevin Han
Dr. Kevin Han is an associate professor and Edward I. Weisiger Distinguished Scholar in the Department of Civil, Construction, and Environmental Engineering at North Carolina State University. He received a Ph.D. in Civil Engineering (Construction Engineering and Management emphasis) and Master of Computer Science at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, a MS in Civil Engineering (Construction Engineering and Management emphasis) and a BA in Architecture/Minor in Structural Engineering at the University of California, Berkeley.

Prior to joining NC State, Dr. Han was a founding member and Lead Construction Management Engineer at a startup called Reconstruct that provides a web-based visual platform that continuously reconstructs and visualizes Reality directly within 4D Building Information Modeling (BIM), measures progress and productivity, and analyzes risk for delay. Read his full bio on the NC State website.

Brent Wadas
Brent Wadas
Brent Wadas is the CEO and Chairman of BotBuilt, leading the charge in redefining the construction industry through robotics and automation. Alongside co-founder Barrett Ames, he launched BotBuilt with a vision to solve fundamental challenges in the sector through innovative technology.

Prior to BotBuilt, Brent built a successful career in investment and technology, having led an investment firm and co-founded a SaaS company specializing in automated business CRM solutions. His leadership extends beyond the business world—Brent is also a former U.S. Army officer who deployed with Special Operations units, serving alongside some of the world's most elite forces.

Now based in Pinehurst, North Carolina, Brent is dedicated to advancing robotics and automation, shaping the future of construction, and ensuring technology meets the industry's most pressing needs. He and his wife, Christy, are proud parents of two wonderful daughters.
