Continuing Education Requirements for License Renewal
The NC Licensing Board for General Contractors requires 8 hours of continuing education to be completed annually in order to renew a license. At least one qualifier for licensees in the license classifications of Building, Residential and Unclassified must complete the 8 hours of CE. For the Unclassified license, it must be the qualifier who has passed the building examination.
The 8-hour course requirement includes a mandatory 2-hour course taught by instructors certified to teach this course. The remaining 6 hours will be elective courses produced by Board approved providers.

Question, Persuade, Refer (QPR) Gatekeeper Training is a nationally recognized suicide prevention program. The key components that will be covered in this program are:
- How to Question, Persuade, and Refer someone who may be suicidal
- How to get help for yourself or learn more about preventing suicide
- The common causes of suicidal behavior
- The warning signs of suicide
- How to get help for someone in crisis
Upon successful completion of this program, participants will receive an e-certificate as a QPR Certified Gatekeeper, which is good for two years
