CAGC is proud to feature NC Senate leader Phil Berger at our CAGC NC Virtual Luncheon from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. on Sept. 18. Sen. Berger, a 10-term member of the Senate and that chamber’s most powerful member, will discuss North Carolina’s Highway-Heavy, Building and Utility needs and funding as well as an outlook for the coming session. Berger, a Republican, represents District 30 – Caswell, Rockingham, Stokes and Surry Counties. An attorney, Berger was first elected to the North Carolina Senate in 2000. He became minority (Republican) leader in 2004, and in 2010, he was selected by his fellow Republicans as their choice for the next Senate President Pro Tem. Berger was officially elected president pro tem, the leader of the NC Senate, when the legislature opened on January 26, 2011. Berger and his wife Pat are parents of three children. He graduated from George Washington High School in Danville, Virginia, earned a bachelor's degree in sociology from Averett College and a law degree from Wake Forest University.
