Harkers Island Summary:
The Harkers Island Bridge Replacement Project will replace two bridges located in a highly corrosive coastal environment in Division 2 (Carteret County) with a single 3,200’ bridge and will utilize Fiber Reinforced Polymer (FRP) materials in lieu of traditional carbon steel reinforcement. This project will accelerate the adoption of innovative FRP materials by NCDOT, promote state of the art technologies and new business practices that will provide longer-lasting structures with improved reliability and service life throughout North Carolina.
Bio:
Trey Carroll holds a Bachelor's and Master's Degree in Civil Engineering from NC State University and is a licensed Professional Engineer. He has worked for NCDOT since 2012 serving in a variety of roles within the Structures Management Unit. He currently serves as the Project Engineer for Policy Development and is responsible for developing statewide policies and procedures for design, construction, maintenance, and asset management of highway structures.
