Title: Safety Leadership Development Workshop
Subtitle: NC LBGC ELECTIVE Con-Ed Class for 2022
Course Background: Significant success has been made in the construction industry over the past several years toward the elimination of workplace injuries with the introduction of numerous new safety policies, procedures and government (OSHA) regulations, however injuries and even fatal accidents continue to occur in the construction industry at an unacceptable rate. Accident and injury elimination through the traditional approach to workplace safety has limitations. This training course is about developing leadership skills for supervisors and managers such that they might approach safety differently than they have in the past. In this training workshop we will introduce and develop new skills and techniques that are necessary of construction company leadership to manage the worksite in a manner that might further reduce or eliminate the chances of workplace accidents and injuries in the future.
Learning Objectives: In this workshop organizational leaders will evaluate and understand their own relationship to safety so that they can understand why their employees and workers sometimes choose to take risks at work. In this training, company leaders will be introduced to new skills to assign tasks and lead the workforce in a manner that significantly increases the possibility that the task will be performed without accident or injury. Company leaders will be able to recognize and reinforce safe work practices in ways that will generate safe work habits. Company leaders will be able to correct employee's and worker's unsafe actions and habits at work using constructive techniques. Company leaders will identify a few new actions they can take on a daily basis to improve their own safety and the safety of their employees and workers.
