At Holt Brothers Construction, we end our leadership meetings with each leader sharing one word that describes our thoughts after the discussion. A fly on the wall may hear words like grateful, energized, refreshed, optimistic, drive, and positive. As the Chair for CAGC Young Leaders, I want to use one word to kick off our 2026 – GROWTH!
2026 brings a new chapter for the Young Leaders of CAGC. This isn’t just another year; it’s an opportunity to redefine what leadership looks like in construction. Our industry is evolving faster than ever, and we must too.
Growth isn’t just about bigger projects or stronger bottom lines. It’s about becoming better people, better leaders, and building an industry that attracts and inspires the next generation. That means sharpening our leadership skills, embracing innovation, and creating workplaces where everyone feels valued and empowered.
In 2026, we will focus on personal growth, growth in our companies, and growth in our industry:
- Personal Growth: Leadership starts with us. We’ll invest in the skills that matter as much as technical expertise: resilience, adaptability, and emotional intelligence.
- Company Growth: Our companies thrive when we lead with vision. Let’s champion collaboration, safety, and culture so our teams can do their best work, ultimately leading to growing the businesses that support us in being a part of CAGC.
- Industry Growth: From technology integration to workforce development, we have the chance to shape the future of construction. Let’s lead that change.
To the businesses and mentors who support this program – thank you. Your investment in leadership development is building more than careers; it’s building the foundation for an industry that will stand strong for decades.
As we move forward, let’s lead boldly, learn continuously, and never lose sight of why we do this work: to build communities, create opportunities, and leave a legacy of excellence. I can’t wait to look back a year from now and be proud of all our growth – personally, professionally, and as an industry.
