The purpose of the CSEA is to recognize those construction companies who excel at safety performance. The CSEA closely examines each candidate's commitment to safety and occupational health management and risk control. Unlike other safety award programs that limit the criteria to frequency rates, the CSEA selection process is considerably more comprehensive. Each application was reviewed for evidence of:
- Company management commitment
- Active employee participation
- Safety training
- Work site hazard identification and control
- Safety program innovation
- Etc.
Participants were required to complete an application form and submit it directly to AGC of America. Then, members of the national AGC Safety & Health Committee reviewed and judged the submittals at the
Construction Safety & Health Conference.
The finalists in each divisional category were then invited to compete in-person at the
AGC Annual Convention
for either a 1st, 2nd or 3rd place award. Finalists gave an oral presentation in front of five judges. The 1st, 2nd and 3rd place awards were determined after oral presentations. Sundt Construction, Inc., the grand award winner, was selected from among the 1st place winners. The winners were then announced at the Safety Awards Ceremony during the AGC National Convention.
“This recognition is a direct reflection of the commitment our entire team brings to safety every single day. At Hood Construction, safety isn’t just a program — it’s a shared responsibility and a core value. I’m incredibly proud of the culture we have created, where looking out for each other is simply part of how we do business. As we celebrate 40 years as a company, this award is especially meaningful, as it represents not only where we are today, but the decades of dedication, continuous improvement, and teamwork that have made achievements like this possible.”

Vice President, Construction Management, Hood Construction
