What to Expect:
The tour of the Palmetto Corp asphalt plant and Luck Stone rock quarry will provide a comprehensive look at the full lifecycle of aggregate materials, from extraction to finished product. At the quarry, we will discuss (and possibly observe) the blasting, crushing, and screening processes used to break down raw stone into various sizes of aggregate. Transitioning to the asphalt plant, we will see how these aggregates are combined with liquid asphalt binder and heated to precise temperatures to produce different asphalt mixes. The tour will emphasize quality control, environmental considerations, and safety practices at each stage. Overall, it will offer valuable insight into how raw natural resources are transformed into essential materials used in road construction and infrastructure projects.
