We Made the Most of Every Moment

A Message from Your 2024 CAGC Board Chair Dean Wilson

As I reflect on 2024, I am in awe of how quickly the year passed and I’m inspired by all we accomplished together at CAGC. It feels like yesterday that Mark Johnnie passed the gavel to me to become the 2024 CAGC Board Chair.  It will be my honor to pass the gavel forward to Ty Edmondson with TA Loving to become the 2025 CAGC Board Chair in Charleston, SC, at our Winter Convention. Ty will do an outstanding job for CAGC -- just as he has for his whole career at TA Loving in addition to his award-winning service on the AGC of America Board of Directors.

Last year at our Winter Convention in St. Thomas, I discussed our shared professional journey, and the value found in “making the most of every moment.” This year we have done a great job of working collaboratively towards our shared initiatives. Below is just a small sample of the many ways we made the most of every moment together in 2024:

  • 25+ companies have joined our CAGC Association Health Plan
  • 12+ companies have joined You Turn Health
  • 7 Pinnacle Awards and 7 Construction Excellence Awards presented at Convention
  • 900+ attendees at our Summer Summit and Expo, which is a record for CAGC
  • 70+ sponsors at our Summer Summit and Expo
  • 27 CAGC Community Impact Awards presented at Summer Summit and Expo
  • 56 Safety Awards presented at Summer Summit and Expo
  • 2 Top Young Leader Awards presented at our Summer Summit and Expo
  • 11 College Scholarships given by CAGC Foundation at Summer Summit and Expo
  • 5 Legacy Inductees to the CAGC Hall of Fame at Summer Summit and Expo
  • 5 Hall of Fame Inductees to the CAGC Hall of Fame at Summer Summit and Expo
  • Membership remained steady at 820+ members
  • Insightful and inspiring keynote addresses at the Winter Convention and Summer Summit
  • A new Spring Leadership Retreat in the mountains that was a big hit.
  • Numerous Young Leader, Education and Training Programs, and Safety programs were offered.

Our CAGC Board of Directors, staff, and membership are the best in the business. Thank you so much for your dedication and service to our organization. Throughout my time with CAGC it has been a pleasure to work with such a talented and passionate group of professionals. While I have always admired the “can-do” spirit exemplified within our group, this year as Board Chair I’ve had the opportunity to see firsthand how hard each of you work to bring value to the construction industry in the Carolinas and beyond.

Dave Simpson’s steadfast leadership, the commitment to excellence among the Board of Directors, the outstanding work of the staff, and the high caliber impacts of our individual members make our CAGC chapter very special. I could not be prouder of who we are and what we do each day!

For over 104 years our awesome organization has proven to be tremendously beneficial to the industry we serve here in the Carolinas. It has been a true privilege to serve as your CAGC Board Chair for 2024. Together our CAGC membership greatly impacts the communities where we live, work, and build. I look forward to many great things ahead in 2025 and for years to come, as we work together to continue making the most of every moment!
