Gordon Rutherford, of the University of North Carolina System, Honored With Carolinas AGC Pinnacle Award
Gordon Rutherford
University of North Carolina
Gordon Rutherford heads up the multi-billion-dollar, at risk-construction management program for the UNC System.
Over the past 15 years, Gordon has had a strong relationship with CAGC. In recent years, as co-chair of CAGC’s Joint Committee with the UNC System, he has helped guide UNC’s construction program in a direction fair to all sides - owners and GC’s, contractors, subs and suppliers.
He has sought and acted on many recommendations from CAGC and the Joint Committee. One example: helping develop the HUB Business Academy and using common sense measures in increasing Historically Underutilized Businesses (HUB) participation.
Gordon also has, at CAGC’s request, kept the open, competitive bid system in place when possible. Gordon is widely regarded as a contractor’s architect because of his even-handed approach to construction.
