Welcome to the 2009 BUSS Divisions Annual Meeting

What’s in Store: Mike Murphy, chair of CAGC’s Board of Directors, will discuss what your board is doing for you. Doug Pruitt of AGC of America will offer a glimpse of the construction industry’s future in a visionary video. Outstanding presentations will be given on how to be an employee-friendly employer and avoid union-related problems; future markets; construction survival; education and training; and BIM.

Brenda Richards, “one of our own” who has hit the big time, will discuss at the Spouses’ Brunch adventure books she has written. Our keynote speaker, Thurl Bailey, who guided the NC State Wolfpack Men’s Basketball Team to a national championship, will tell you how to survive and succeed with a smile. There also will be plenty of great golf, spa, pool/beach activities and a dinner-dance featuring The Headliners.

Building Division Meeting – Chairman Tim Kennedy of Trident Construction will discuss division activities. Vice Chair John Muter of Barnhill Contracting will discuss bonding issues and future division meetings. Frank Elmore, Elmore & Wall, will discuss ConsensusDOCs; Wendy Cockerman, Weaver Cooke, Green Building for Your Office & Elsewhere; Michael Dorman, Multivista Carolinas, Construction Photography to Save You Big Bucks; Multi-Billion-Dollar Construction Plans of the Military. CAGC staff will discuss major legislative issues in both Carolinas that affect your business.   
 
Utility Division Meeting - Chairman John Harris of James E. Harris Construction will host presentations/discussions on issues and initiatives that affect the Carolinas’ utility construction industry and your company’s bottom line. Topics will include: owner/engineer relations; North and South Carolina’s one-call programs; project funding; fair contract documents; union organizing activity; our legislative agenda and your issues/concerns.

Specialty/Subcontractor Division Meeting - Chairman Mike Howard of David Allen Co. will update current efforts of the division including GC/Sub relations meetings and a proposed partnering agreement between GC's and subcontractors. Dan Ballenger with Chameleon Software will make a presentation on Implementing Efficient Project Management Systems to Improve Profitability in Tough Economic Times.
