ARTICLE III - DIVISION AND SECTION

Section 1. Divisions

To provide a forum for discussing matters of common concern and to further the interests of members involved in similar types of construction activities, regular members will be divided into three (3) occupational divisions namely: (a) Building Division; (b) Highway-Heavy Division; and (c) Utilities Division. Other members shall be members of the Subcontractor/Specialty Contractor Division or the Supplier/Service Company Division.

Section 2. Division Chair

(a) A Chair and Vice Chair of each occupational division will be elected annually by regular members engaged in that classification of construction. The Chair of each division will promote the welfare of the members of his division and will report to the division membership at all division meetings. He shall recommend to the President and CEO committee appointments and make such suggestions to the President and CEO and Board of Directors as may in the opinion of the members of his division increase the usefulness of the division. He shall appoint a division nominating committee annually (see Article XII, Section 2b.).

(b) The Building Division Chair shall be responsible for the monitoring and coordination of Association activities relating to those committees formed to serve the needs of the building contractor. The Chair is also responsible for conducting division meetings required by Article VI, Section 5. The Chair will report to the Chair of the Board and Board of Directors at each regularly scheduled Board of Directors meeting. Staff reports to the Board of Directors concerning Division activity may be substituted for the Chair's report.

(c) The Highway-Heavy Division Chair shall be responsible for the monitoring and coordination of Association activities relating to those committees formed to serve the needs of the highway/heavy and bridge contractor. The Chair is also responsible for conducting division meetings required by Article VI, Section 5. The Chair will report to the Chair of the Board and Board of Directors at each regularly scheduled Board of Directors meeting. Staff reports to the Board of Directors concerning Division activity may be substituted for the Chair's report.

(d) The Utilities Division Chair shall be responsible for the monitoring and coordination of Association activities relating to those committees formed to serve the needs of the Utilities contractor. The Chair is also responsible for conducting division meetings required by Article VI, Section 5. The Chair will report to the Chair of the Board and Board of Directors at each regularly scheduled Board of Directors meeting. Staff reports to the Board of Directors concerning Division activity may be substituted for the Chair's report.

  1. A Chair and Vice Chair of the Subcontractor/Specialty Contractor

Division will be elected annually by those members enrolled in the division as described in these Bylaws. The Chair of the division will serve as Chair of the Subcontractor/Specialty Contractor Advisory Board and with the Vice Chair, shall represent to the Board of Directors the views and recommendations of the Advisory Board. The Chair shall be responsible to the President and CEO for the monitoring and coordination of Association activities relating to the Subcontractor/Specialty Contractor Company members he is elected to represent. The Chair shall appoint a nominating committee annually. The Chair will report to the Chair of the Board and Board of Directors at each regularly scheduled Board of Directors meeting. Staff reports to the Board of Directors concerning Division activity may be substituted for the Chair's report.

(f) A Chair and Vice Chair of the Supplier/Service Company Division will be elected annually by those members enrolled in the division as described in these Bylaws. The Chair of the division will serve as Chair of the Supplier/Service Company Advisory Board, and with the Vice Chair, shall represent to the Board of Directors the views and recommendations of the Advisory Board. The Chair shall be responsible to the President and CEO for the monitoring and coordination of Association activities relating to the Supplier/Service Company members he is elected to represent. The Chair shall appoint a nominating committee annually. The Chair will report to the Chair of the Board and Board of Directors at each regularly scheduled Board of Directors meeting. Staff reports to the Board of Directors concerning Division activity may be substituted for the Chair's report.

Section 3. Manner of Election and Term

See Article IX - Manner of Election and Term of Officers and Directors; Section 2., Division Chairmen and Vice Chairmen, Directors; Section 3., Subcontractor/Specialty Contractor and Supplier/Service Company Division Chairmen, Vice Chairmen, and Advisory Board Directors.

Section 4. Sections

To promote closer relations between regular members engaged in the same type of construction and federal and state awarding agencies,

(a) The Highway-Heavy Division will be divided into three (3) sections: (1) North Carolina Highway Section; (2) South Carolina Highway Section; (3) Bridge Section,

(b) The Building Division will be divided into two (2) sections: (1) North Carolina Building Section, and (2) South Carolina Building Section.
