Nomination Process

The first step in the Pinnacle Awards process nomination is easy and free - complete a brief nomination form. Nominations are now open - Deadline for 2011 competition: September 30, 2011.

Member firms can be honored in two ways: for either their performance as a company in the past year, or for a specific project:

"Best Project" Categories

"Best Company" Categories
Best Building Project
Best Highway-Heavy Project
Best Utility Project
Best General Contractor
Best Specialty Contractor
Best Supplier/Service Co.

Who Can Nominate:
There is no cap on the number of entries a company or individual may submit.
(Note: CAGC does not disclose the identity of nominators. )

  • For the 3 "best project" categories: any employee of a member firm can nominate a project - even someone who worked on it.
  • For the 3 "best company" categories: any employee can nominate any firm, including his or her own employer.

Who Is Eligible to Compete:
Winners may not compete in the same category in two consecutive years.
For the 3 "best project" categories:

  • All projects must be located in the Carolinas, and have been constructed by a current Carolinas AGC member firm.
  • For joint ventures, all GC participants must be current member firms.
  • The project must have been completed between 7/1/10 and 9/30/11.

What Comes Next?
Upon receiving a Pinnacle Award nomination, Carolinas AGC e-mails the candidate firm a comprehensive questionnaire about either the nominated project or the company itself, depending on the award category. For the 3 "best project" categories the primary questionnaire is sent to the CEO of the general/prime contractor, both JV entities or construction manager. Additional input is also gathered from the project designer/s & owner. The most successful entries are often those for which all parties contribute information.

Nominees submitting a completed questionnaire must include multiple references, who will be contacted by the independent panel of Pinnacle Award judges.

Winning firms will be contacted by telephone after January 1, 2012.
