Local Governments
Carolinas AGC helps lead efforts with local governments in representing the
construction industry. CAGC staff meets with local government officials to make
presentations on how proper risk allocation can reduce costs for both owners and
contractors. CAGC also recently completed a prequalification brochure that suggests
to public owners how best to prequalify contractors and subcontractors and is
undergoing a similar effort regarding retainage and payment practices. The Joint
Committee Recommendations, developed by the AIA/CAGC chapters in both states; also
makes suggestions on how to avoid problems in the construction industry and CAGC keeps
local governments apprised of those recommendations.
