Carolinas AGC Says Goodbye to Previous Staff Member and Friend

Mel RosasManuel (Mel) Peña Rosas, 76, passed away on Monday, March 4, 2019. Mel served as a Carolinas AGC Safety Consultant from November of 2000 to December of 2003. Upon starting his own safety business he continued to work closely with members throughout the Carolinas. Mel leaves behind his wife of 38 years, Marlies Rosas; his sons Scott Rosas and Steven Rosas, his daughter Janice Rosas, three grandchildren, beloved relatives, and countless friends. Chief Warrant 4 (R) was born and raised in San Antonio, TX to parents Manuel and Aurora Rosas. He enlisted in the Armed Forces after high school at the age of 18. During his long military career he was stationed in Europe and around the US. Mr. Rosas served his country in combat in Vietnam and Desert Storm and was proud to be a Black Hawk pilot, military photographer, fireman, Soldier, as well as a maintenance officer. He retired after 32 years of selfless service. After his time in the military he began his civilian career in North Carolina as an OSHA inspector. The funeral service was held in Charlotte, NC on March 12. Mel will be greatly missed by the construction industry, and all who knew him.
