Continuing Education Requirements for License Renewal

The NC Licensing Board for General Contractors requires 8 hours of continuing education to be completed annually in order to renew a license. At least one qualifier for licensees in the license classifications of Building, Residential and Unclassified must complete the 8 hours of CE. For the Unclassified license, it must be the qualifier who has passed the building examination.

The 8-hour course requirement includes a mandatory 2-hour course taught by instructors certified to teach this course. The remaining 6 hours will be elective courses produced by Board approved providers.

NCLBGC Elective: Diversity & Inclusion

DEI Essentials is a comprehensive introduction to Diversity, Equity and Inclusion. The course covers the definition of DEI, including the fact that diversity encompasses much more than race, gender, and sexual identity. The course covers the business case for DEI. Incorporating DEI in your workplace is more than just the right thing to do, it's imperative to the growth and success of a company. We also delve into Inclusive Language and Unconscious Bias. Finally, we discuss Allyship and the value of having courageous conversations. The course is designed to educate but also to interact.
