Description
Carolinas AGC teamed up with NCDOT for a presentation and open forum on FRP Technology and the Harkers Island Bridge Project.
The Harkers Island Bridge Replacement Project will replace two bridges located in a highly corrosive coastal environment in Division 2 (Carteret County) with a single 3,200’ bridge and will utilize Fiber Reinforced Polymer (FRP) materials in lieu of traditional carbon steel reinforcement. This project will accelerate the adoption of innovative FRP materials by NCDOT, promote state of the art technologies and new business practices that will provide longer-lasting structures with improved reliability and service life throughout North Carolina.
