Our speakers will provide an SCDOT Design Build Update – including the latest information and insight on Carolina Crossroads.
Ladd Gibson, PE, Assoc. DBIA
Program Director for Mega Projects
South Carolina Department of Transportation
Ladd Gibson is a 1991 graduate of Clemson University with a Bachelor of Science degree in Civil Engineering and is registered as a Professional Engineer in the State of South Carolina and certified as an Associate Design-Build Professional with the Design-Build Institute of America.
Ladd began his career as a Nuclear Engineer with Norfolk Naval Shipyard, served as a construction manager with the North Carolina Department of Transportation, and worked in both design and construction management roles in the private sector with Calyx Engineers.
Since joining the South Carolina Department of Transportation in 2006, he has served as Program Manager, Design-Build Engineer, Director of Preconstruction, and is currently serving as the Program Director for Mega Projects.
He lives in Irmo, SC with his wife and two daughters.
Chris Gaskins, P.E., P.G., DBIA, Design-Build Engineer
South Carolina Department of Transportation (SCDOT)
Chris Gaskins is the Preconstruction Design- Build Engineer for the South Carolina Department of Transportation, Gaskins leads a dynamic 12-enginer group that oversees the delivery of statewide design-build projects. He also facilitated the development and implementation of the Design-Build Procurement Manual and, along with every member of his Design-Build Group, has achieved DBIA certification as a Designated Design-Build Professional.
Before joining SCDOT in 2007, he spent 10 years with Law Engineering as a project manager and senior geotechnical engineer where he worked on one of South Carolina’s first design-build projects. Gaskins is a Registered Professional Engineer and a Registered Professional Geologist in the state of South Carolina and has 20 years of experience in geotechnical engineering.
