THE HUBBLE LIGHTING CORPORATION HEADQUARTERS HONORED WITH BUILDING PROJECT PINNACLE AWARD

Hubbell’s 850,000 square-foot, four-story headquarters is much more than office space- It’s technically demanding engineering labs, tightly-specced R&D areas and a best-in-class training facility.

And, Harper constructed it as a LEEDS Silver Building.

The Pinnacle judges commented that this job was not only very high-tech but also tough to construct, and seemed “not to have a right angle in the whole building.”

The complexities of creating a building of so many curves and radiuses resulted in a number of intersection points where steel precast, natural stone and architectural precast merged. This required great precision, as these components had to be both aesthetically pleasing and watertight.

Harper worked extremely closely with Hubbell lab specialists and the project designers to conform to the rigid specifications of the lab equipment being relocated from across the US. Wall types, insulation requirements, climate control all played a vital role in the functionality of the lab equipment.

Harper also worked with its subcontractors to develop a unique sequencing plan, resulting in the building being completed in order from Floor Four to Floor One. Subcontractors on the job praised Harper’s work, noting that its president was frequently seen on-site.
