HIGHTOWER CONSTRUCTION NAMED BEST GENERAL CONTRACTOR IN THE CAROLINAS
Hightower Construction Co., Inc
CHARLOTTE –February 2007 – Charleston, SC-based Hightower Construction Co., Inc. has received the prestigious 2006 “Best General Contractor” Pinnacle Award from Carolinas Associated General Contractors (AGC).
A 50-year-old firm with 110 employees, Hightower has an annual revenue of approximately $100 million and self-performs a majority of its construction trades work.
The judging panel of fellow contractors noted Hightower's combination of top marks for safety, subcontractor references, and owner references. As one subcontractor put it, Hightower is “tough and fair. Looks for the right solution for problems, not the easy or inexpensive one.” A design firm cited Hightower's “doing-it-right” attitude versus a more typical “price” driven approach, calling its “commitment to quality second to none.”
The Best General Contractor award was presented to Hightower Construction at the Carolinas AGC Annual Convention in St. Thomas , Virgin Islands , January 26, 2007 .
As the largest AGC chapter in the nation with 3,000 member firms, Carolinas AGC's mission is to build its members' businesses through workforce development, business development, profit management, and CompTrust AGC –a self-insured workers' compensation trust. More than 75% of commercial and industrial construction (buildings, highways/bridges, utility facilities) in both North and South Carolina is performed or supported by Carolinas AGC members.
