Dear Carolinas AGC Member:
It's almost time for our Building/Utility/ Specialty-Subcontractor Divisions' (BUSS) Annual Meeting. The meeting, "We are All in this Together," will be held July 22-25 at the Wild Dunes Resort on the Isle of Palms outside of Charleston. The meeting will deliver timely information that will help you adapt to and survive current economic conditions and deal with an ever evolving federal presence. Presentation topics include: The State of the Economy — A Comprehensive Review by Ken Simonson, AGC of America (AGC) Chief Economist; Federal Contracting, Stimulus and Construction by Tom Kelleher, Smith, Currie & Hancock; Washington Report — Healthcare Reform, Immigration and other Legislative Initiatives Affecting the Construction Industry, Jeff Shoaf, AGC Executive Director Government and Public Relations; and Organized Labor — Legislation and Activity, Mark Stubley, Ogletree Deakins. In addition, division breakout sessions will feature discipline specific subject matter programs for utility, building and specialty/subcontractor member companies.
There will also be plenty of time for networking and relaxation at the meeting during our dinner/dance, golf tournament, receptions, spouse brunch and free time; all planned to provide the perfect mix of business and pleasure. Whether you are a GC, specialty/subcontractor, or supplier the BUSS meeting offers the premier industry event for providing up to the minute status on the economy, the Carolinas' market and how you and your company can effectively mange in today's business environment.

Utility Division Meeting — Division Chair, John Harris of James E. Harris Construction and Vice Chair, James Braswell of Langston Construction will host presentations/discussions on issues and initiatives that affect the Carolinas' utility construction industry and your company's bottom line. Topics will include: stimulus/water-wastewater funding; subsurface i owner/engineer relations; North and South Carolina's one-call programs; our legislative agenda, federal contracting and your issues/concerns.
Building/Specialty-Subcontractor Divisions' Meeting — CAGC's Building Division Chair John Muter of Barnhill Contracting and Vice Chair John Farley of Contract Construction will host what promises to be an excellent Building Division Meeting. John Muter will moderate a panel discussion, "What Makes a Great General Contractor from a Contractor's/Subcontractor's Point of View," with these panelists:
The Building Division Meeting also will feature hot legal topics with attorneys Bright Ariail with Rosen, Rosen & Hagood and Bob Burchette with Johnston, Allison & Hord, as well as discussions by staff and members on infrastructure funding, prequalification, in-state bidding issues, division goals and legislative reports.
Specialty Subcontractor Highlights - The 2010 BUSS meeting is packed with opportunities for Specialty/Subcontractors to develop business contacts and to participate in programs/discussions on current hot topics impacting their business. Highlights of the meeting include: A panel discussion on Becoming a Great General Contractor from a subcontractor perspective, new information on CAGC's efforts to develop a standard partnering agreement for GC's and Specialty contractors, reports on union organizing efforts impacting specialty/sub firms, how will health care impact your business and how to participate in federal stimulus work.

Golf
Golf has always been a major attraction at Wild Dunes Resort, which boasts two world-class golf courses designed by Tom Fazio. The oceanfront Links Course and spectacular Harbor Course are consistently ranked among the best golf courses in the United States.
PGA Class A golf professionals are available to conduct golf schools and instruction for all ages and levels of players, including private lessons and Golf Motion Assessment. The Resort also offers a driving range, chipping and putting greens, locker rooms, and two fully stocked golf shops. Wild Dunes Resort recently welcomed a new fleet of golf carts to the courses with state-of-the-art GPS technology, providing players with detailed course information, accurate distances and electronic scoring.
Tennis
The Tennis Center boasts 17 Har-Tru courts, including a stadium court, with five courts lit for night play. A full-service pro shop features tennis equipment, tennis and resort apparel, and repair services.
Spa
Located on The Village Plaza, Sand & Sea Salon and Spa is open Monday through Saturday. Appointments are recommended, walk-ins welcome.
The City of Charleston
Wild Dunes Resort is located a mere 30 minutes from the charm and grace of the beautiful city of Charleston. Transportation
The resort is 30 minutes from the Charleston International Airport. Shuttles to the Resort are available from Charleston International Airport for a fee. Complimentary shuttle service within the Resort is available daily 7 a.m.-11 p.m.

A block of rooms has been reserved at the Wild Dunes Resort for a special rate of $260.00 single/double occupancy. Guest may phone in their reservation between the hours of 7:00am and 11:00pm Eastern Time, Monday through Friday, and 8:00am and 9:00pm Eastern Time, Saturday and Sunday. The toll-free reservations line is (800) 845-8880. Guest must refer to Carolinas Associated General Contractors to obtain the group rate.

The deadline for reservations is June 16, 2010. Reservations made after June 15, 2010 will be accepted on a space available basis at the best available rate. Room rates are subject to 11.5% accommodation tax and 4% Resort Service Fee. A $9 per room, per day amenity fee will be charged and is subject to state sales tax.
