Description: Subsurface Utility Engineering (SUE) is an engineering practice that manages the risks associated with underground utilities. Using a variety of nondestructive, geophysical investigating techniques, licensed surveyors and engineers verify the existence, condition, and exact location of underground utilities. This information aids greatly in design. SUE is broken down into four quality levels that are separated by accuracy which ranges from an overview of utility records for a certain corridor to an exact X,Y and Z of a utility at a known point of conflict. SUE providers can play a vital role in locating utilities on private facilities and are often used to supplement the one-call system.
