Recognition process

The Project SuperVISION® recognition mission is to:

  • Encourage talented people to pursue a professional supervisory career in the construction industry;
  • Retain current supervisors and encourage development and continuous improvement in their skills and knowledge;
  • Recognize and reward outstanding performers for their efforts and contributions to member firms and the construction industry in general.

This approach recognizes that good supervisors develop their competencies through a combination of: on the job training and experience; formal education; specialized continuing education; and energetic leaders and role models. Achieving certification is a thorough process to assure that the highest standards are maintained and that requirements are established with fairness and careful study.

For anyone currently performing as a construction supervisor, the program can increase your visibility and project opportunities. For aspiring newcomers to the industry considering a professional career in construction, the supervision program will give you the tools needed to learn, grow, and manage your career objectives. While achieving certification at any level will not guarantee a persons’ employment or compensation objectives, it will offer a number of opportunities to influence the career development within the construction industry.

In a balance of structure and flexibility, the program is based on the competencies listed below. Under each category a list of activities helps measure on-the-job training and experience of the supervisor applying for certification.

Project SuperVISION® consists of four levels of recognition:

  • Construction Supervisor (CS)
  • Professional Construction Supervisor (PCS)
  • Professional Construction Supervisor (Senior)
  • Professional Construction Supervisor (Master). Each level contains different requirements.

RECOGNITIONADVANCEMENT PROCESS

Requirements:

Progress towards recognition as a Professional Construction Supervisor (PCS) is based on:

Plus the successful completion of Project SuperVISION® offerings i.e., courses or workshops.

Plus education and training points received from attending and completing any requirements from Project SuperVISION® courses, workshops, and other continuing education courses pertaining to construction apprenticeship, supervision and academic degrees. Plus competency skill points based on an evaluation by present and former supervisors who are in a position to make a determination as to your competency as a supervisor. Please note that Project SuperVISION® is a competency-based process.
